Online tourist guide preparatory course for taking the exam at the Ministry of Tourism to obtain the tourist guide license

COURSE PRESENTATION: The Preparation Course for the National Tourist Guide Exam, for a total of 250 hours, online, in synchronous mode, offers a comprehensive training to take the ministerial exam in accordance with Law 190/2023. Through live online lessons, taught by experienced instructors, the program covers all the main subjects required, including Art History, Archaeology, Tourism Law, and Geography of Tourism, providing all the necessary skills to become a professional Tourist Guide.

The implementing decree no.88 approved on June 26, 2024, established the details of the exam to obtain the national qualification of Tourist Guide.

 

TARGET AUDIENCE The course to become a tourist guide is aimed at those who wish to take the national qualification exam for Tourist Guide organized by the Ministry of Tourism.

 

REQUIREMENTS 

■ Be a citizen of Italy or a country of the European Union. Citizens from non-EU countries with a valid residence permit can also participate.

■ Hold a high school diploma (or equivalent), valid for university access.

■ Adequate knowledge of the Italian language and at least one foreign language, preferably English.

■ Be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment in the course.

HISTORICAL ART CONTENTS

■ Art History: 110 hours

■ History: 62 hours

■ Archaeology: 18 hours

 

TOURISM REGULATORY CONTENTS

■ Geography: 18 hours

■ Tourism Law: 16 hours

■ Cultural Heritage and Landscape Law: 12 hours

 

CONTENTS Practical Tourist Guide

■ Communication techniques: 6 hours

■ Practical Tourist Guide: 8 hours

 

➤  Module with historical-artistic contents: history, art history, and archaeology, 190 hours: the topics of history, art, and archaeology will be addressed by dividing them temporally, in a path that will go from prehistory to the contemporary period. Focus will be placed, when possible, on the Italian Peninsula. In addition to theoretical explanations (stylistic characteristics, historical period, cultural aspects, insights related to artistic techniques, glossary), examples and artists will be analyzed. Exercises will also be provided to consolidate basic concepts and verify understanding. Exercises may be conducted in the online classroom or assigned as homework. Instructors will provide suggested bibliography and web resources.

 

➤  Module with tourism and practical contents, 60 hours: geography, tourism law, accessibility and inclusivity of the tourism offer, regulation of cultural heritage and landscape (46 hours), communication, planning and preparation of the guided tour, and marketing plan for the tourist guide (14 hours). The topics will cover the geography of the Peninsula and the transformations related to tourism, along with the latest developments, such as the issue of over-tourism or responsible tourism. The regulatory part will be addressed starting from the laws but always trying to relate the concepts to practical cases, particularly to escort services. In the practical part, we will consider the operational activity of the guide: drafting the marketing plan with the planning of activities for the year, including defining objectives, building strategy and operational part, and measuring customer satisfaction. Finally, the planning of the guided tour: research of sources, site visits, creation of the itinerary, timing, group management, and use of support tools. Instructors will provide suggested bibliography and web resources.

 

 

COURSE START DATE: October 6. The training course will be held in the evening from Monday to Friday from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM. 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: October 2, 2025.

 

DURATION AND ATTENDANCE: The course has a duration of 250 hours conducted ONLINE in synchronous mode, allowing direct interaction with the instructor. The lessons are recorded, so they can be reviewed at any time.

 

FINAL CERTIFICATE: Attendance certificate

 

WHO ISSUES THE TOURIST GUIDE LICENSE? To obtain the tourist guide qualification, one must pass the final exam which will be held in Rome, organized by the Ministry of Tourism.

 

PARTICIPATION FEE: The tourist guide course costs € 1,000.00 (including VAT).
